The National Council of Commercial Plant Breeders (NCCPB) has established
an Award to be presented to a person who has made outstanding basic contributions
to the advancement of plant breeding and genetics in the public sector.
It is administered by the Council through its Awards Committee and Board
of Directors.
The Award consists of a $1,500 check and an engraved plaque. It is presented
at the American Seed Trade Association Corn & Sorghum and Soybean Conference
in December.
Any person may make a nomination. The nominee will be considered for
three (3) years without submission of a new nomination. Additional supporting
information may be submitted the second or third year.
Nominations should be typed and accompanied by the following supporting
data and information:
- Name, address, and age of nominee.
- Present title or position.
- Education, academic degrees.
- Honors, awards, or recognitions received.
- Brief history of employment, including special assignments.
- Membership in scientific and professional societies; outline of services
performed for these societies.
- Major publications.
- Brief description and evaluation of significant research accomplishments
for which the Award is presented.
- One to three seconding letters to the nomination.
Preparation of the best nomination possible is a compliment to the person
nominated and assures that the nominee's achievements will be carefully
judged.
An original and eight (8) copies should be sent prior to October 20, to
